Acera School is an independent K–9 nonprofit school in Winchester, Massachusetts, serving approximately 120 students and their families from more than 25 communities throughout Massachusetts. Founded in 2010, Acera provides an inquiry-driven, project-based education that nurtures creativity, intellectual curiosity, and a love of learning. Students engage in advanced academics, ability-based math, engineering and maker projects, visual and performing arts, outdoor education, and passion-driven projects.
Acera enables gifted learners to become their best selves, to learn based upon ability and interests. We safeguard the spirit and innate curiosity of each child, in order to develop the next generation of innovators, scientists and leaders for our world. Acera’s Afterschool, Vacation Weeks, and Summer Enrichment Programs are open to all students, regardless of school enrollment. Participants explore a wide range of subjects including engineering, biotechnology, mathematics, visual and performing arts, theater, design, electronics, music, chemistry, and physics. Along the way, students develop creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while building friendships and growing as individuals, learners, and collaborators.
Acera School offers a core day program for students in kindergarten through 8th grade, with the option of a bonus 9th grade year. In addition, Acera's afterschool, vacation week, and summer enrichment programs are open to all students in the broader community, regardless of where they attend school.
